How Beelicious Began

Beekeeping

Once upon a time, there was a husband who already had plenty of hobbies. He tinkered with his car, fixed up his camper trailer, kept beautiful native and vegetable gardens that needed constant attention, enjoyed target shooting, and had two loyal German Shepherds and one fluffy dog.

One day, he turned to his wife and said, “I think we might get bees.”

Now, this wife was a patient and kind woman. She could have pointed out that her husband already had a busy job and more projects than hours in the day. But instead, she smiled and said, “Of course, dear. That sounds like a wonderful idea.”

In her mind, she pictured one beehive tucked neatly in the backyard—maybe 80,000 little bees buzzing away.

Well, not quite.

Her husband had something else in mind. Instead of one hive, he brought home ten. That meant 800,000 bees. The backyard suddenly became a humming, golden world of activity.

The bees settled in quickly, travelling up to five kilometres from home to gather nectar. They returned with treasures from wildflowers, fruit trees, and blossoms in every direction. And, true to their nature, they got to work—making honey, pollinating gardens, and becoming part of the family.

And so, Beelicious was born.

From those first ten hives came something bigger than a hobby. It became a passion, a way of life, and a sweet gift we now get to share. Thanks to our bees, there’s honey available all year round—fresh, local, and delicious.
